Technology

Technology is reshaping how real estate is analysed, invested in and managed. INREV supports members with practical insights into AI, data-driven investment, sustainability data, cybersecurity and smart buildings, helping turn innovation into informed decision-making. This page brings together INREV research, guidance, member case studies and highlights from our annual Technology Seminar to support confident adoption in an increasingly digital real estate landscape.

Technology insights for real estate professionals

Technology is changing how real estate data is collected, analysed and applied — from AI-enabled tools and data-driven investment to ESG data management, cybersecurity and smart buildings. These developments bring new opportunities, but also new risks and organisational challenges.

To help members make sense of this evolving landscape, INREV has developed a chatbot covering all our papers, providing practical applications, limitations and considerations of technology in our industry.

This chatbot provides automated responses generated from INREV's reports, insights, and industry content. By using this tool, you are interacting with an AI system provided by Botpress, not a human. The AI may make mistakes or offer incomplete information.

Cybersecurity paper

Cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly important business risk in real estate. As buildings become more digitally connected, exposure to cyber risk grows, highlighting the need for clearly defined roles and effective collaboration.

This INREV paper, ‘Cybersecurity in real estate: A risk too big to ignore’, aims to increase the awareness of cyber risks among real estate professionals and encourage members to take practical steps to strengthen asset resilience.

IQ blog | AI and the road to the future

Artificial intelligence is moving rapidly up the agenda for investment managers. While many organisations are already using AI to improve efficiency and support decision-making, progress across the industry remains uneven.

In our latest IQ blog, the INREV Technology Committee explores the current state of AI adoption, its challenges and practical implementation strategies.

The committee's goal is to further develop INREV’s position on technology in the non-listed real estate industry. It aims to drive the industry forward by investigating the current and future challenges and opportunities for the non-listed real estate industry. It also acts to foster a dialogue between investors, advisors, specialists, and fund managers to increase knowledge and market transparency. The committee will investigate what current technologies are available, how are they used, and what their implications are for the industry.
