Schroders Capital, the private market investor, has promoted Nick Montgomery to the role of global head of real estate, subject to regulatory approval.
The appointment has been made alongside the formation of a new leadership team to further strengthen its real estate capabilities and client proposition. Montgomery, who is currently head of UK real estate, will take over from Sophie Van Oosterom following an orderly transition.
Van Oosterom is leaving Schroders to head up global real estate investments at Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments).
Schroders Capital’s real estate business currently manages over $27.9 billion (€25 billion) of assets in a range of strategies across 16 markets globally.
Montgomery has been at Schroders for 12 years and has overseen strong growth of the UK business including significant new mandate wins and the launch of Schroders Capital’s Real Estate Impact Fund, recently approved by the FCA to use the ‘Sustainability Impact’ label under SDR.
He has a long-term track record of delivering outperformance for clients across a range of strategies including the UK listed Schroder Real Estate Investment Trust.
