Funds launched in 2020 posted an average IRR of 16.5%, outperformed only by the 2010, 2013, and 2018 vintages groups.
The tenth Global IRR Index Consultation release includes 344 closed end funds across vintages from pre-2002 to 2020 with a non-core manager defined strategy.
Key highlights:
- With an average IRR of 6.2%, the 2019 vintage still holds the weakest performance relative to all single year vintages launched since the global financial crisis (GFC)
- Multi country vintage groups tend to have a lower interquartile range than their single country peers
- With an average IRR of 18.7%, the US 2008-2010 fund vintage group remains the strongest performing across the Index. For European funds, the post 2016 vintage group posted the highest average IRR, while for Asian-Pacific funds the 2011-2013 vintage group was the strongest performer.
