INREV recently supported IEIF and Green Soluce in a study conducted to understand the responsible investment practices and challenges faced by fund managers, listed property companies and institutional investors in the real estate sector in Europe. Thanks to all members who contributed to this important study.
Key highlights of the study include:
- Out of those surveyed, 94% have defined an ESG policy for their real estate investments
- And, over 60% have defined quantified targets and monitor specific energy and carbon indicators
- Complexities in the process and lack of harmonised normative frameworks are considered to be the most important challenges for a systematic and explicit consideration of ESG factors in asset valuation
- Carbon, regulation and the availability of quality data are the top ESG issues
