Global IRR Index: interquartile range greatest for younger vintage funds

The third Global IRR Index consultation release includes 316 closed end funds across vintages from pre-2002 to 2018 with a non-core manager defined strategy.

Key highlights include:

  • The third release of the Global IRR Index comprises of 270 value added and 46 opportunity funds
  • The Q2 2020 Global IRR Index includes 79 Asia Pacific funds, 102 European and 135 US focused non-core closed end funds
  • The funds with vintage years of 2013 and 2010 posted the strongest performance of the quarter with an equally weighted IRR of 18.5% and 17.8% respectively
  • The youngest group of the Index delivered an IRR of 0.5% on an equally weighted basis, notably down from the 12.2% reported in Q1 2020.
  • Funds with 2018 as a launch year showed the greatest interquartile range of 23.7%.
