Affordable housing solutions: case studies in impact and sustainability

Institutional investors and investment managers across Europe are increasingly playing a critical role in delivering affordable and sustainable housing. A growing number of successful developments show how private capital is strengthening housing supply, regenerating neighbourhoods, and supporting long-term value creation for communities and investors.

In response to the European Commission’s call for practical examples, INREV members have shared ten case studies highlighting innovative approaches to affordable housing. Projects range from Catella’s sustainable homes in Haarlem and Hines’ urban regeneration scheme in Berlin to PATRIZIA Global Partners’ social and affordable housing impact in Greater Dublin. These examples showcase collaboration with public authorities, creative financing solutions, and strategies to overcome local regulatory hurdles.

To further strengthen public-private cooperation, INREV is engaging with the EU Taskforce for Affordable Housing, including a closed-door workshop in Q1 2026 for case study providers to discuss existing challenges and the ways to scale solutions.
