Hines kicks off construction of pre-let distribution centre the Netherlands

US privately-held developer-investor Hines has announced the start of construction of a new, high-quality distribution centre and office space at ABC Westland in Poeldijk, the Netherlands.

The logistics park, owned by one of Hines’ discretionary funds, is located close to The Hague, and predominantly serves occupiers in the fresh fruit and vegetable industry, providing a wide range of services such as production, logistics, wholesale and trade, packaging and other related activities.

Hines bought the asset in 2019. After receiving the environmental permit in December 2023, construction has now started on the 17,452 square metres distribution centre, which is split over two units and includes office space.

Both units have been fully pre-let to Bidfood, a foodservice wholesaler and distributor, and Fine Fruits Company, a Dutch brand of the French premium supermarket Grand Frais.

Bidfood has signed a ten-year lease for 9,657 square metres of space, including a conditioned warehouse, mezzanine area and office, establishing its presence within the Hague region, while Fine Fruits will be relocating from within the park into 7,387 square metres of space, comprising conditioned business facilities, a mezzanine, cold storage and an office, as part of a five-year lease.

Both companies plan to relocate to this new building on its completion, which is scheduled for Q1 2025. Hines was advised by CBRE and Batenburg Bedrijfshuisvesting on its leasing activity.
