Deka appoints new managing director

German fund manager Deka Immobilien has announced the appointment of Johannes Hermanns as managing director of its Deka Immobilien Investment arm, with effect from January 1, 2024.

He succeeds Ulrich Bäcker, who is resigning from his mandate at his own request at the end of 2023. Bäcker will still be responsible for Deka's move from the Trianon to the newly built Four complex in Frankfurt next year before he will then retire. Johannes Hermanns has been head of Real Estate Management Germany at Deka Immobilien since October 2013. In this role, he is currently responsible for asset management for the funds' German real estate portfolio. In the future, he will be responsible for the asset management of Deka's approximately 580 properties worldwide with real estate assets of around €50 bn.

Hermanns has around 25 years of experience in various areas of the real estate industry. Before moving to Deka Immobilien in 2008, he worked as a planning architect, sales manager in the construction supply industry and in various management positions at Allianz Real Estate.
