Areim has acquired eight light industrial properties in Västerås in Sweden with approximately 17,000 sqm of lettable area. The properties are located in the Hälla and Hacksta industrial areas. With this acquisition, Areim establishes itself in Västerås, Sweden's sixth largest city, within the light industrial sector and expands outside the metropolitan regions.
The properties are leased to 96 percent to a mix of attractive tenants. Areim is planning to develop the properties’ sustainability profile through, for example, the installation of solar panels and other energy efficiency measures.
"It is exciting to establish ourselves in Västerås, a city with a strategic geographical location and strong local growth. The properties are centrally located in a good cluster and further strengthen our portfolio in the light industrial sector. We will implement various measures to improve the properties’ energy performance in line with our strategy", says Jesper Warén, Head of Light Industrial Investments at Areim.
In the past year, Areim has expanded its Swedish light industrial portfolio from approx. 210,000 sqm to approx. 256,000 sqm. The portfolio now consists of roughly 60 properties in Geater Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, and Västerås, and also includes a significant volume of unused building rights as well as ongoing development.
