Staff Profile
Elleni Meteku and Ewelina Boraczewska
In this edition of the IQ Magazine we speak to not one but two members of the INREV team.
Many INREV members may not have met Elleni Meteku, Executive Assistant and Office Manager in Amsterdam, or Ewelina Boraczewska, Public Affairs Research Analyst and Office Manager in Brussels due to the behind-the-scenes nature of their roles. Nevertheless, both fill critically important functions at INREV. Both Elleni and Ewelina have worked at INREV for many years and were experienced team members before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. With an overnight shift to a work-from-home environment, much of the responsibility for a successful transition to the new working mode fell on their shoulders. From the outset of the Covid crisis, Elleni and Ewelina worked tirelessly to ensure that the INREV teams in Amsterdam and Brussels had the tools they needed to perform their jobs in support of the INREV membership and mission.

Elleni, based at the main INREV office in Amsterdam has long been responsible for taking care of all office matters, including ensuring all employees have a comfortable and well-functioning environment to work each day. During the pandemic, Elleni played a pivotal role in ensuring that all of the INREV team were well equipped to be able to continue performing their roles from home. This meant, among other things, effective co-ordination and distribution of the office equipment to team members working from home in a wide range of locations.
In addition, Elleni stepped up in assisting the Research and Market Information Director and Professional Standards Director in scheduling all committee meetings and calls. In the quickly evolving environment, it was vital in ensuring contact between INREV and the industry never wavered. This extra responsibility has recently been rewarded with a promotion to include Executive Assistant in her title.
Another important role that Elleni took care of during the pandemic was ensuring that colleagues felt connected and still part of the team even without direct personal contact at the office. Elleni provided a source of morale boosts for the team by arranging online zoom quiz nights, drinks and an online Christmas cooking event which provided a much needed break for some from the monotony of home working.

At the same time in Brussels, Ewelina focused on assuring the continuity of the Public Affairs team's activities in a virtual environment and stepped up in supporting the member relations team. These added to her usual wide range of responsibilities managing office affairs on a daily basis, handling Public Affairs research and events projects, and generally ‘solving the unsolvable’ as Ewelina likes to put it.
Recently, Ewelina has become more involved in the content side of Public Affairs and is now looking into the complex issues related to EU and UK regulations.
Recently, Ewelina has become more involved in the content side of Public Affairs and is now looking into the complex issues related to EU and UK regulations. She contributes to furthering the department's programme by researching the available data and assessing its impact on the industry, providing analyses that support the team's initiatives and deepening the co-operation with the broader research team. To recognise this expansion of her responsibilities, Ewelina was promoted to Public Affairs Research Analyst in addition to her office manager role. Although Elleni and Ewelina work outside the limelight, both are highly respected and greatly valued colleagues who keep the INREV team functioning both in the office or in a more flexible setting.
