Alternative today, mainstream tomorrow
Between 2004 and 2014, the share of real estate in investors’ portfolios grew from 3.4% to 7.9% of total assets, according to the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA).
Despite approximately doubling, allocations are often below investors’ targets. Nevertheless, investors once viewed real estate, as a whole, as an ‘alternative’ asset, but now see the asset class as an integral part of institutional portfolios. Read more
