Environmental Indemnity Agreement
An agreement under which a borrower (and often a guarantor) contracts to indemnify, defend and hold another person (typically the lender) harmless from any liability arising out of existing or potential environmental violations (such as contamination from a release of prohibited substances like petroleum) related to the property which is the security for a loan.
